About Speaker
Amy Mitchell received her undergraduate degree in Human Relations from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In April of 2001, she received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Poetry from Western Michigan University. She quickly embarked on a career teaching college-level writing.
Amy Mitchell began her first job in Admissions at Columbia College Chicago and for five years worked full-time in the Admissions Office while teaching evening classes on campus. In 2005, she moved to California and became a regional admissions counselor for Columbia College Chicago. Her next regional admissions position took her to a more selective institution working for Northeastern University. She is now fortunate enough to be back at a creative institution as the Senior Associate Director of Admission at Emerson College.
She feels lucky to have been in many different positions (from the classroom to the office to the regional perspective) in Higher Education. After twenty years in this field, she still finds it fulfilling and rewarding every day.
