What's Bootcamp for Young Entrepreneurs Program?

Bootcamp for Young Entrepreneurs Program (BYE) has a unique curriculum for young people to boost their entrepreneurial skills. These skills include but not limited to innovative and creative thinking, multitasking, decision making, problem-solving, and leadership. Throughout this youth entrepreneurship program, future entrepreneurs will be able to learn what a startup can do and should do. They will team up, identify real problems, pitch innovative ideas to solve them, and build a startup.

What age/grade group is this program designed for?

This program is specifically designed for grades 13-18.

Do you provide financial aid?

Yes, we do provide financial aid. You can consider applying for financial aid if your household income is less than $75 K.

Is it a 1-on-1 program or class?

This is a team study.

How often do the classes meet?

We presume that the instructor and students meet once a week for around two hours.

How do you select instructors?

We select our instructors from exclusively successful entrepreneurs who are also academics from the top universities such as Stanford and the University of California Berkeley, or professionals from the most successful companies such as Google and IBM.

What are the expected outcomes of the program?

The expected outcomes of the Bootcamp for Young Entrepreneurs (BYE) program include feedback from experienced entrepreneurs and letters of recommendation from the instructors as well as experiences that boost lifelong entrepreneurial skills and abilities.

What is your refund policy?

If the registration is canceled before the second session of the program, we provide a full refund. After the second session, it is non-refundable.

How do the tuition payments work?

Tuition payments need to be paid in advance.

Are there any prerequisites or tools?

There are no prerequisites for the program. The required tools are a computer, a microphone, a mouse, a web camera, and a zoom account.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes. We offer a $200 discount for early bird registrations and a $150 discount for each sibling in case of more than one sibling registration.

How long does the program last?

The program lasts 12 weeks.

How do students engage in projects and studies remotely?

Our students and instructors meet in interactive sessions via the Zoom program. Also, we use Google Classroom for document and video sharing, and continuous communication.

How do you track student progress?

Our curriculum is designed such that mentees engage in project-based activities and advance in milestones. Our instructors check and comment on assigned tasks during and after meetings by using Google Classroom and Zoom. Also, we create an electronic portfolio for each student. The student and his/her parents have access to the student’s portfolio.

Do you provide help in college applications?

We help our students to make decisions on their career paths and provide consultancy including tips and strategies on their college application portfolios.

Does this program include just one module or do you offer multiple modules?

We offer multiple modules. Each module lasts 12 weeks.

CHRISTINE CUNNINGHAM

Professor of Practice of Education and Engineering at Penn State University

 

Dr. Christine Cunningham is a Professor of Practice of Education and Engineering at Penn State University. Her work focuses on making engineering more relevant, accessible, and inclusive, especially for underserved and underrepresented populations. She does this by creating researched-based engineering curricula for PreK-8 children and their educators. Her book, Engineering in Elementary STEM Education, describes her groundbreaking work. Previously, Cunningham was the Founding Director of Engineering is Elementary. Cunningham has received a number of awards; in 2017 her work was recognized with the prestigious Harold W. McGraw Jr. Prize in Education.

Biography

Chris Rogers earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at Stanford University, where he worked with Professor John Eaton on his thesis on particle motion in a boundary layer flow. Rogers joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tufts School of Engineering in 1989. He is involved in a number of research areas, including particle-laden flows (a continuation of his thesis), telerobotics and controls, the slurry flows in chemical-mechanical planarization, the engineering of musical instruments, measuring flame shapes of couch fires, measuring fruit-fly locomotion, and engineering education (kindergarten to college). At Tufts, Rogers has exercised his strong commitment to teaching by exploring a number of new directions, including teaching robotics with LEGO bricks and teaching manufacturing by building musical instruments. His teaching work extends to the elementary school level, where he talks with over 1,000 teachers around the world every year on methods of introducing young children to engineering.
