About
Kerry Brown is a visionary entrepreneur and technologist with a remarkable track record of founding three companies that have been acquired by or integrated into global industry leaders such as Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Google, Apple, Samsung, FitBit, and Kawasaki.
A pioneer in mobile financial technology, Kerry co-founded ViVOtech as CTO and helped his team create the world’s first mobile NFC payments ecosystem, helping to launch it across 40 countries. His innovations also include a cutting-edge augmented reality headset system developed more than a decade before Google Glass, and the co-founding of the first independent Materials Science Analysis Laboratory in Southeast Asia. He is credited as an inventor on approximately 40 U.S. patent filings spanning such fields as mobile fintech, cryptography, mobile security, materials science, and plasma physics and has received royal recognition.
Kerry brings deep expertise in technology investment analysis and due diligence, having assessed mobile technology acquisitions of up to $250 million for Global 500 companies. His intellectual property and depositions have been cited in a Billion-dollar Samsung vs Dynamics litigation case as prior art, and he holds USPTO Patent Prosecution Certification.
Kerry helped raise over $154 million for startups he founded through institutional funds, private investors, and corporate sponsorships. His companies achieved $250 million in sales prior to acquisition. With experience spanning 80 countries and 12 years living abroad, he brings a global mindset to cross-cultural leadership and technology commercialization.
Currently, Kerry serves as a partner at Synapses Venture Builder/Studio, where he supports the early-stage growth of transformative technologies and startups. He is also helping lead the development of the second annual TechDev Academy Entrepreneurial Olympiad, to be held July 21–23, 2025, at the Stanford Faculty Club.
